History

In 1916, Abbondio purchased a property in the heart of the Po Valley, starting an agricultural tradition that has involved five generations of the Messori family.
Originally dedicated to traditional farming including vegetables, grapes, wine, fruit, and livestock, the estate gradually shifted its focus to vine cultivation alone. Over the decades, the size of the estate also increased: the mechanization of agricultural techniques improved efficiency, making it possible to manage a larger number of plots.
Agricultural techniques are passed down from father to son: every year, each family member takes care of a specific aspect of the business, while everyone participates in the harvest, joined by other villagers.
After delivering grapes to winemaking cooperatives for a century, Cantina Messori reached a turning point when Elena took over management at the age of 25. Her vision is to enhance the products of her land by producing single-vineyard wines, with hand-harvested grapes and no compromises on quality and authenticity. Today, Cantina Messori is proudly independent with 26 hectares of vineyards and is one of the last wineries to be entirely family-owned.
